PHP and MySQL Fundamentals - Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions answered

Do I have to start my course on the start date?

No. Once enrolled, you’ll receive access to the learning platform and can familiarise yourself through the orientation. Once the start date lapses you will gain access to two lessons a week, for six weeks. You’ll then get an extra 2 weeks at the end to complete your final exam. You can study at your own pace; however we do recommend that you complete each lesson within two weeks of its release so that you manage to complete the course within the 8 week access period.

How long will it take to process my enrolment after I’ve enrolled?

There are no processing times, so you can access your learning platform immediately! If your course has not started yet, you can go through the orientation and familiarise yourself with the learning platform. Your enrolment confirmation email will provide all of these details.

What kind of assignments will I have to complete?

You will complete multiple choice quizzes, short answer questions and summary exams/test(s) which will confirm your understanding of the subject.

What are the requirements?

  • A PHP and MySQL development environment. During the first lesson in the course, you will be walked through the process of installing WAMP5 software, which provides a full PHP and MySQL development environment. You can download WAMP5 for free from http://www.wampserver.com/en/. You will also need Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista (WAMP5 does not support either Windows 98 or Windows Me.) Note: Macintosh users will not be able to use the WAMP5 software, and must provide their own PHP and MySQL development environment. Prior HTML coding experience is helpful, but not required.
