Creating Websites in Wordpress II - Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions answered

Do I have to start my course on the start date?

No. Once enrolled, you’ll receive access to the learning platform and can familiarise yourself through the orientation. Once the start date lapses you will gain access to two lessons a week, for six weeks. You’ll then get an extra 2 weeks at the end to complete your final exam. You can study at your own pace; however we do recommend that you complete each lesson within two weeks of its release so that you manage to complete the course within the 8 week access period.

How long will it take to process my enrolment after I’ve enrolled?

There are no processing times, so you can access your learning platform immediately! If your course has not started yet, you can go through the orientation and familiarise yourself with the learning platform. Your enrolment confirmation email will provide all of these details.

What kind of assignments will I have to complete?

You will complete multiple choice quizzes, short answer questions and summary exams/test(s) which will confirm your understanding of the subject.

What are the requirements?

  • The WordPress.org software is free; but in order to use it, you'll need to register a domain name and set up an account with a hosting company for a minimum of three months, at a cost of around $10 per month. We'll show you how to find a host and install the software. You'll need a computer with broadband Internet access, running any recent version of the Windows or Mac operating systems. We recommend using the Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer 9, or Safari browsers. If you don't have prior experience with either the WordPress.com hosted version, the self-hosted WordPress.org, or other Web publishing tools, you should have a strong familiarity with the Internet and very good computer skills. Otherwise, we recommend the introductory course, Creating WordPress Websites.

What do others think?

‘This course is extremely well written, step-by-step, with visual examples of before and after so the student knows what the change should look like. Questions were answered quickly and concisely. The course content gave a solid understanding of setting up and running a WordPress website which is exactly what I wanted from this class. I already have a four year undergraduate degree and took many classes, most in classrooms but several online. Therefore, probably the highest praise that I can give is to say that "I could hardly wait for each lesson to be released.” I looked forward to learning more about the subject and knew that the information would be presented in a way that it would be a pleasure to learn!’
